Behind Enemy Lines
Set up in December 2018 this branch was established to bridge the gap between already existing branches in Northumberland and South Tyneside.
We aim to create a thriving network of Sunderland fans from Gateshead to Whitley Bay.
In time and with everyone's support we can be one of the largest Sunderland supporters groups out there.
Newcastle & Gateshead Black Cats took time out to speak to Roker Report about all things Sunderland, and our branch itself... its quite an interesting read if we do say so ourselves.
We have meet ups every other month in what is fast becoming a popular get together at our designated pub in Whitley Bay (contact us for details)
Having just been established, we are hoping to run coaches to most home and away games from Season 2019/2020 for both cup and league games.
Twinned with Milwaukee Mackems
A first of it's kind partnership between a UK and US based Sunderland supporters group. The Newcastle/Gateshead branch has now officially twinned with the Milwaukee Mackems of Wisconsin. We look forward to a successful partnership with our friends across the pond.
The Branch Badge
The branch badge shows the connection between Newcastle and Gateshead through the Tyne Bridge but it's clear that it's a Sunderland Supporters Association with the red and white stripes and the black cat.
The six stars represent the number of league titles we have won (not the number of times we've stuffed the mags).
The Latin 'tergo hostium acies' translates to 'behind enemy lines'
